Adding 12,000 sq ft of Storage Without New Construction
Regional metal fabrication company (Rochester, MN)
Challenge
The company needed to double storage capacity for raw materials and WIP but had no room to expand the building. Floor space was at a premium, and forklift traffic was congested.
Solution
Bernie's designed and installed a two-level Steele Solutions mezzanine with pallet rack, New London Engineering conveyor integration to the production floor, and a new vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) for material flow. We also reconfigured dock staging with flow rack.
Result
12,000 sq ft of new storage and staging space, 40% reduction in forklift travel time, and payback in 22 months. The facility now supports 24/7 production without space constraints.
